BIDDEFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A popular festival kicked off Saturday in Biddeford.

The city allowed organizers to move the festival grounds to the Biddeford Intermediate School fields on Hill Street.

The festival boasts a number of attractions - including fireworks Saturday night.

There was also face painting, authentic French cuisine, carnival rides, and even a petting zoo. The festival's focus is remembering the foundation on which the city was built.

Critics of the festival say organizers have done a fantastic job making a family-friendly event that leaves a very small footprint.
